Located between your electricity meter and the electricity circuits is your fuse box or consumer unit.
Fuse board upgrades reduce the risk of receiving electric shocks which older overloaded fuse boxes cannot protect against.
New domestic consumer units have modern domestic miniature circuit breakers combined with residual earth leakage circuit breakers (rcbo) which prevent total loss of power to your home should an electrical fault occur by cutting power to the faulty circuit, limiting power loss to that particualr area only.
Should an electrical fault occur, earthing prevents an electrical shock by disconnecting the electricity supply, causing the fault current to be directed safely away, which in turn automatically disconnects or trips the fuse box simultaneously.
